How to Respond to CartoonStock Copyright Inquiries
Received a CartoonStock licensing inquiry? Send the response letter below, refer all communications to CountingWorks, and do not engage further unless instructed to do so.
From time to time, our clients may receive correspondence from CartoonStock or a law firm acting on its behalf requesting proof of purchase, licensing documentation, or payment related to images that were used in websites, blogs, social media posts, or other marketing materials provided through CountingWorks (formerly ClientWhys).
In these situations, you should not attempt to gather licensing records, negotiate, explain the circumstances, or engage in extended discussions with CartoonStock or its representatives.
Because CountingWorks administered the applicable vendor relationships and content distribution services, any questions regarding licensing status, purchase records, authorization, or documentation should be directed to us.
What Clients Should Do
If contacted by CartoonStock or anyone acting on its behalf:
- Respond once using the template letter below.
- Do not provide any additional information or documentation.
- Do not engage in further discussions, phone calls, or email exchanges.
- Forward any future correspondence to you from CartoonStock or any representing firms to CountingWorks at help@countingworkspro.com.

Important Notes
- All images were licensed properly and we have receipts for them, which we can provide to you for peace of mind, if requested.
- You should not send payment, admit liability, speculate about licensing status, or attempt to resolve the matter independently.
- You should not provide screenshots, invoices, website records, or other documentation back to CartoonStock unless specifically requested by CountingWorks.
- Any letters, emails, or legal notices received after the initial response should be forwarded to help@countingworkspro.com without response to the original sender.
- CountingWorks will review the matter and determine whether any further action is necessary.
- NOTE: There are also occasional scams running where bad actors claim false ownership of your images and try to intimidate you into paying. This is a different matter which should be ignored entirely, and we can help you ascertain what is valid versus what is a scam. Do not click any links within the email and forward it to us so we can help determine if it is a valid ownership inquiry or a scam attempt.
