Onboarding: Client Portal Overview: How to Use Your CountingWorks PRO Client View
This guide will walk you through everything you can do inside your client portal.
Welcome to your secure client portal in CountingWorks PRO. This is where you can communicate with your tax professional, upload documents, complete tasks, and manage your services—all in one place.

Getting Started: Logging In
After your tax professional invites you to the portal:
- Accept the invitation email
- Create your password
- Navigate to your tax professional’s website
- Click the Client Login page

From the login screen, you can:
- Sign in with your email and password
- Use Google or Microsoft login
- Click Forgot Password if needed
Navigating Your Profile
You can access your profile in two ways:
- Click View Profile from the dashboard
- Click your initials/profile icon in the bottom left corner and select Profile Settings

From your profile, you can:
- Update your personal information
- Upload a profile picture
- Change your password
- Enable Two-Factor Authentication (2FA)
💡 Tip: Enabling 2FA adds an extra layer of security to your account.
Messaging Your Tax Professional
Use the Chat feature to securely communicate with your tax professional.

- Messages are organized by date and time
- Your tax professional receives an email notification when you send a message
- You can attach files by first clicking the paperclip icon on the left side of the chat window, then by:
- Dragging and dropping documents
- Uploading from your device

💡 Tip:
You can adjust your message settings (such as “send on enter”) using the three-dot menu in the chat window on the lower right side of the screen
Uploading and Managing Documents
The Documents section allows you to upload, download, and view files.

Uploading Files
- Click Upload Files, or
- Drag and drop files into the window
Once uploaded, your tax professional will be notified automatically.
Viewing & Downloading Files
- Click on a file to download and view it
- Select multiple files to download in bulk
- Use the three-dot menu to download entire folders or individual files

🔴 Red indicators show:
- New files you haven’t viewed yet
- Unread updates from your tax professional
Completing To-Do Items
Your tax professional may assign tasks for you to complete.

- Review assigned items (e.g., upload documents, complete forms)
- Click Complete once finished
This notifies your tax professional that the task is done.
Tracking Workflow Progress
If your tax professional uses workflows, you can track your progress here.

- View the status of your services
- See what stage your work is in
- Request additional services if available
Scheduling Appointments
If your tax professional has it enabled, you can book appointments directly through the portal. Once in the client portal you can click Schedule Appointment in the upper right corner.

- Select the type of appointment (e.g., video call)
- Choose a date and time
- Click Confirm
You’ll be notified once your appointment is approved.
Managing Payments
If your tax professional uses the built-in payment system, you can manage payments here.

- View pending, completed, and past payments
- Access payment details and history

This section only appears if your tax professional uses CountingWorks PRO payments.
Signing Documents (eSignatures)
If documents are sent for signature, you’ll manage them in the eSign section.

- View documents that require your signature
- Complete signatures directly in the portal
- Access completed documents and audit trails (timestamps, signatures)
Completing Intake Forms
If your tax professional sends questionnaires:

- Fill out and submit forms directly in the portal
- View completed forms anytime
- Download copies for your records
Reviewing Tax Documents
In the Tax Documents section:

- View documents sent for approval
- Approve your tax return when ready
- Download copies for your records
Access on Mobile Devices
You can access your client portal from:
- Your phone
- Tablet (iPad)
- Desktop or laptop
💡 Tip:
All features—including messaging, uploads, eSignatures, and forms—are fully functional on mobile devices.
